Cleveland Caveliers

Another Regular Season in the Books

I’ve been playing out a string of unimpressive games, highlighted by a bad turn of luck, but now that’s over. Let’s cover the few highlights.

Going to See the King

nba2k12 2011-11-27 03-26-50-96

Well, here’s a blast from the past. We were in Cleveland playing LeBron, Andre Iguodala and the Cavs (oddly enough, Iggy was proposed as an option to bring to Cleveland if LeBron stayed in 2010/11, but that’s neither here nor there now).

Still a Knick

nba2k12 2011-10-22 04-27-44-03

Well, I’m still a Knick. I’m starting the season in New York, at least long enough to get my trade value up. Maybe I’ll stay the whole year – we’ll see. First up, the Heat.

Wrapping up the Regular Season Already

nba2k12 2011-10-08 22-21-26-41

It’s official: they’re hyping me up way too much for what I’ve done in the league. By ‘they’ I mean everyone – my team, the media and my teammates. My ‘mates were apparently talking me up after a recent game – a game I finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks on 30% shooting. Yay.

Trial, Error and Frustration

A couple more games under my belt, and they were just a run of  frustration. First up, the Pistons at home.

I’m back in uniform tonight against the Indiana Pacers, and this game was high-pressure.

Running the Table

I’ve run through the ‘winnable stretch’ of games I’ve mentioned before, so here’s a rapid low-down on the results.

Rick Gets Blanked

Three more games, and one of them was the worst I’ve ever played – but we’ll get to that. First of all, my starting stint lasted all of that one game against the Pistons. Anyway, we played the Thunder at their place. I finished the win with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists a block and turnover. The difference in the game was Dwyane Wade, who exploded for 36 points.

I was ready to quit playing after a recent Cavs game. I finished with no points or boards, one assist and four turnovers. I was furious! Every time I passed the ball someone picked it off, and I couldn’t score for the life me. On a related note we lost the game.

We next played the Magic in Orlando. I would have been scoreless in the first quarter if I hadn’t hit a three to end the first quarter.  I further would have finished the first half with just those three if I hadn’t subsequently beaten the first half buzzer as well.

I finally got hot in the third quarter, scoring eight points that period and earning the Sprite Spark Award to start the fourth quarter. We got outscored by 11 in the fourth (most of which I spent on the bench) but still won by eight, thanks in large part to the 18-4 third quarter I sparked. I wound up with 13 points, four assists, 1 steal and a turnover.

I hope that the Cavs game was an abomination, but only time will tell.

Smashed by the Knicks’ STAT Man

Two more games down! In the first I set a career high in blocks with 4 in a win over the Cavs. I scored six points, had three rebounds and assists plus the aforementioned blocks. I finished the game was a teammate rating of A+. Nice!

010-LostAgain Our next game was in New York and we just didn’t have it this night. If you want to know how bad it was, I was selected as Player of the Half for the Heat, with 7 points, three rebounds an assist and a steal. I finished with 11 points, five boards, four assists and a steal (plus three turnovers), making me one of four Heat players to score in double-digits. The problem was that no one could check Amar’e Stoudemire. He lit us up with 26 points, seven rebounds two assist, two steals and a block. He was an absolute beast. My man scored eight points, but shot 3-12 because of my defense, so I did my part.

Oh well. There was no way we were cruising to the playoffs. Those other 29 teams are going to make us work for our spot in the post season, and y’know what?

That’s the way it ought to be.

Rick Daniel, The Cavs and the NBADL

We played my hometown Cleveland Cavs tonight. I again started, and again I didn’t play too bad.

I scored 8 points, had one rebound, two assists, and a block with only one turnover. Yay! I played over 20 minutes for the second straight game and we won our 5th in a row.

I also found out why I’m the starter. For whatever reason Mario Chalmers is now a member of the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBADL. Someone decided to demote Chalmers instead of me, and to that person, I say  “thank you.”
