When I mentioned last post that Wade being hurt would allow LeBron to be LeBron, I forgot that that involved him dominating the basketball. His skill in that area was evident in the last two games, but it wasn’t my biggest concern.

Our first game without Wade was at home against Charlotte. I figured I’d see significant time at shooting guard and I was right. Despite starting at the point, I was moved to shooting guard at the first ball stoppage as Mario Chalmers came in at my position. This caused a bit of irritation for me, because he and I do not get along. He will never, ever pass me the ball. Period. He’ll score for himself or feed LeBron or Wade, and that’s it. It didn’t matter though since passing me the ball was a bad idea, anyway.

My release point was just about perfect (according to the shot-release meter) the whole game, I got open a few times, I had layups at the rim, and none of it mattered – I was stone-cold. I finished with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a turnover on 30% shooting. I know I said I was willing to do whatever it took for us to win (and we did win), but this is irritating.

I was told on almost every play to basically stay out of things. Set a pick and get back, stand in the corner, whatever. I don’t even care about points – I just want to be an active participant. When my contribution could be matched by a road cone, I’m not helping, thus I’m not happy. The bad part was that this turned out to be the better of my last two games.

It was off the Washington to play the Wizards next, and I wasn’t just a bystander, I nearly cost us the game.

I couldn’t get a rebound, I couldn’t stop anyone on defense – especially Gilbert Arenas – and I again could not shoot. Layups rolled off of the rim and almost every shot would rattle all around the cylinder before bouncing out. We won big again behind LeBron’s 28 points, but I was an anchor on this team’s neck. Just 9 points with 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 turnovers on 25% shooting. I also had a half dozen passes get tipped or deflected.

I seriously don’t know what’s going on. There’s no reason for me to be such a lost cause. I’m going to have to think on this one for a while.
